Hey guys, I deciced to open up the box with all the coins in it today and sort through them. I have pennys and half pennys. Possibly some Shilings too.
Just finish soring them out into the years, they are dirty, but I will clean them up evently.
These car the years: 1967 1965 1964 1963 1962 1961 1960 1959 1958 1957 1956 1955 1954 1953 1952 1951 1950 1949 1948 1947 1946 1945 1944 1943 1942 1941 1939 1938 1936 1935 1934 1933 1927 1924 1923 1922 1921 1920 1919 1918 1917 1916 1915 1914 1913 1912 1911 1910 1905
I have quite a few coins in each packet. I also heard that the 1910 half penny is worth $100,000 to $800,000, is this true, id just like to get a value on these, learn more about them, and learn what to look for to find out if had a error.
Also the 1947 coins they had a weird 7 on them, different to every other 7 on the other coins. Edited by Streetholden 06/18/2009 7:52 pm

Quote: 1413 1413 Aussie penny? This alone can buy you a country! Just kidding... there's more than a few Aussie specialists here so they can help you with the rarities. And don't clean them yet! You do know cleaning coins improperly (or just cleaning them!) can severely decrease its value!

Hi There was actually no Half Pennies or Pennies minted for Australia until 1911. So it maybe an English Half Penny you have. Cheers Bryan

So I'm goign to asume that anythign with the sparten lookin guy on the front would be english?
Also doing some googing and working out some values, 2 iv pulled aside would be: 1918 six pence 1915 one shilling
Both look as if they have had a hard live, worn down, six pence 1/4 is worn flat..
Also how can I tell if their "proof" or minted?

haha, first of all, SHE's not a man, and second of all, her name is Britannia. Britain's got the only coins in the world without a national identifier in words, so if you don't see the country's name, then it's British.

Just a word of advice do not clean your coins as it can greatly decrese the value of them as I found out the hard way. Also post some pics and many of the learned people in the community will be able to give you a rough idea on the grade of your coins. Cheers Bryan
