At first glance, looks to be post-strike damage--possibly exposed to intense heat. What does the reverse look like?

I agree, that looks like warping caused by blowtorch or fire damage.

And please CROP your photos - It's the second sentence you read on the picture upload page. "Please crop your images to the item being imaged and orient them correctly!"

This would be damage by having heat applied to it. (The cladding bubbled up and separated from the core.)
