I have recently received a collection of German State 1 groten coins and have been able to ID all of them, except this damaged example.

It's from 1745, and I can see "BREM:1745", "NOV:R", and a key, but the other side does not have the expected double headed eagle. Instead it has what looks like two large capital 'A's and another letter.

About 16mm diameter, 0.66 grams.

As you say, the first photo identifies it as a 1745 1 groten. The other side must have had a stamp applied post mint.

Thank you for your post tdziemia. It would explain why this coin does not match the expected reverse. Also the coin is heavily damaged and that may have been caused during the post mint stamping process. What is curious for me is why would someone take an existing coin that's already very thin and fragile, and try to modify it to replace the eagle. Seems like a lot of effort for marginal reward.
