Can anybody tell me about the 2006 Canadian Timber Wolfe 1/2 ounce silver coin? Is this just a commemorative or a new series all together?

It is my understanding, at this time, it is a new series with design changes coming each year. With the price of silver escalating the 1/2 ounce silver may be come a real favorite with collectors world wide. I have a few of them, some purchased in the last two weeks while they are still afordable. Coast to Coast coins carries them in the $7.50 (were in the last couple of weeks) and of course there is Gatewest Coins in Canada to name a couple suppliers. I am really impressed with Canada's use of wildlife and the huge variety of coins they have offered in the past few years and I DO INTEND to keep up with this series.

Shatsi the 2006 Wolf that was released in Dec., if I remember correctly, was the first of the series. And it is a GREAT looking coin. I don't know if the design changes will be other animals each year or a new "wolf" look! I would recommend you get with a dealer and get one bought as the rising price of silver is going to start pushing the cost of the wolf upward. When they started in December I could get them for about $4.50 and now they are $7.50! American Eagles (2006) reached $13.50 this week so the days of cheap silver are fading fast!

Here is a scan of this coin ( not mine, found it on the web) :

Terry is right. Is a new series from RCM,but couldn't find any other info as hard as I tried ( if they gonna change the design next year and such).A lot of folks on a canadian forum find this coin to be ugly because the wold seems unnatural for them and because the proportions of the elements (moon versus wolf versus trees) are not correct...don't know, maybe some people just have too much time or they might be right

I like it very much. Don't know about the trees but I think the wolf and the moon goes together:)

I tremendous amount of folks CAN'T see things 3-dimensionally or with the eye of a photographer. I think the Canadian Mint did an outstanding job with this design and am looking forward to seeing what the 2007 design will bring this December!

It looks like this coin just transformed itself into a "PROOF" canadian dollar

http://cgi.ebay.ca/BU-Proof-2006-Ca...cmdZViewItem

...but it is BU at the same time
So I wonder, when that "dog" it's gonna transform into a sheep

Air-tites are available for the Timber Wolf. That's the only coinc that would fit into this size, none of the US coins are 34mm other than the St. Gaudens.
