This came from the $10 folder I recently picked up. It has no date, but it has raised ground and an S mint mark on the reverse.
I have a couple questions:
What do you think this will grade at?
Would a TPG confirm this is a 1913-S raised ground?
Does it have value and how much?

Thank you for your time.
Dan

It's worth (maybe) $10-15, not worth the shipping, much less the grading

I'm not looking to get it graded, I'm just wondering if a TPG would confirm it as such...or if we can collectively say this is a 1913 raised ground...and your thoughts on a grade?

This having no date would be less than P-1, but with the raised ground it can be identified, so where does that lead us on grade?

I'm pretty sure your coin is a Type I, One50. Here's a couple of worn nickels - one of each type. But yours is still F or P.

Of course - you see the raised mound and can see that it is an S mintmark even though it is dateless.

Yes, because of the reverse design, 1913 P-D-S Buffs can be identified without a date. A P-01 grade is possible without a date if the coin is "identifiable" by type, date, and mint mark. In addition to 1913 P-D-S Type 1 reverse Buffs, several dateless one-year types can meet the standard, e.g. 1859 IHC, 1883 No cents Liberty nickel, 1916 SLQ because of obverse design differences from 1917, etc.

Ten other dateless Buffs can be identified by obverse design differences: 1921 P and S, 1923 P and S, 1925 P-D-S, 1931-S, and 1936 P and S (but not D).

Yes, it can be specifically identified as a 1913-S Type 1.

Expanding on this correct comment by FC .... there are a lot of one year issue US coins with unique design elements that enable a lowball grade to be assigned without a date present.

The classic silver commemorative series is filled with these one year types - and I have several dateless PO01 examples in my collection.

It is a decent hole filler.
