Some of my undocumented stats on copper LMC that I know you can't live without. I get about 25% copper pennies. Note I do not count 1982's as they all go in a jar for future sorting. My high count per roll is 22 copper pennies, my low 3,12-15 seems to be average. I get about 1 Wheat penny every 4 rolls (3 in one roll is my high). I get about 1 Canadian penny every 3 rolls. I get about 1 2009 penny every $25 box. In about 10 $25 boxes I have had one dime, one blank planchet, one toy plastic penny. One box had about a dozen post 1982 with bad copper. Does not seem to be post production but the lack of copper was on various years. 1939 was my oldest. Have not seen any obvious error coins. I get my pennies from small town banks in NW Indiana, except for 2 boxes in WI (One had the bad copper post 82's). Most were shotgun or plastic rolls. My lowest count roll was in a box sorted at the local bank (I think I was resorting some of my returned pennies!). Now you can all sleep easy.

do you look for WAMs ?
and 25% is a good precent I tend to get +/- 20% in NC
but I did get a roll this weekend that was 100% 21 wheats and several red 63-66

Thanks yotie! I still have the stats saved on another computer. I'll get that finished one of these days. Then I'll have to figure out how to post a spreadsheet :)

"Note I do not count 1982's as they all go in a jar for future sorting."

Many folks here use the "drop test" where you drop the coin on a hard surface, and if it tings, it's copper, and if it's a flat sound, then it's zinc. This method works, but I've found it much easier to flip the coin instead. If it's copper, it will ring loudly while it's in the air, and if it's zinc, it will make no sound at all while it's in the air. Try it with a 1981 or older and a 1983 or newer. That's the easiest and quickest way I've found to tell the difference. Of course, once you do this enough, you won't need any of these methods, you can tell by looking. You may not think so, but you will eventually.
