Issued in 1993 these coins joined a trend of diminishing mintage (possibly due to a lackluster design). It still is a valuable coin due to it's bullion content. Report this Post to the Staff

The logic seems backwards If I were "investing" in gold, I would buy plain bullion and could wait for the market to go low. That way I wouldn't have any regrets selling when it went high. But since I am buying coins I want for a collection, I don't mind paying a premium to get a rare set or unique design. However, when the day comes that I have to let that collection go, I will probably regret it. Report this Post to the Staff
muddler Pillar of the Community United States 7185 Posts	Posted 05/18/2026 03:24 am I have been a collector for 60 years and commemorative coins had always interested me. When I was adding the silver commemoratives to my collection I felt at the least I was hording silver. When the silver commemoratives were all assembled I graduated to the gold issues. now twenty years later I have acquired most of the $5 commemorative types and have now been thwarted by just the gold content cost to continue making additions. At least I had been collecting when they were more affordable and now find myself with a bit of gold to pass down to my family. Report this Post to the Staff
