Hi all,

I have what I believe to be a 1828 2 real but can't find any similar coins online. Can someone confirm and possibly provide some info on this coin, where was it made etc. Why does it have what appears to be a hallmark

Thanks Avalon

This silver coin is in fact a bit rare. It's a pity that it is in bad condition.
The mark on the coin is not hallmark but a countermark. This countermarks struck also on ancient coins in ancient times mostly to announce that the coin was went out of use and the ruler was'nt ruling anymore.
Here are simmilar coins to yours:

Yep, it's a Seville mint host coin. The denomination is 2 reales. Listed under Cuba as KM# 6. The countermark was applied officially by the Cuban colonial authorities in 1841.
