Hi all,

I have been told that a 1919 Double Dot penny, is rare. I have one in mint condition. Does any one know the value for this?

Thanks
David

Hard to say without seeing a photo but 1919 double dot in Maccas 13th edition... VF $425, EF $1350, aUnc $3000, Unc $5250, but less on the second hand market.

Hey,

I'm trying to get a photo, with no success. Is there a certain way your meant to do it or? All my photos come up blurry, and if you zoom up, you cant see a thing. I'm using a 5.2mp digi camera, with full quality, any tips?

thanks

Hi david

If your camera has a macro setting try uning that, its better to take a good clear pic and crop the edges , than try to take one to close,,

The forum will accept images up to 100KB JPG but it seems to like around 60 or 70 at least for me with dial up.

The flash is usually bad too. See if you can turn it off. You really need the camera on a tripod and to use a slow shutter if you have that option. Maximum resolution is not needed and the pic will need to be resized down for the forum anyway.

If your not having much success with the camera do you have a photo scanner? Try placing the coin on the scanner and scanning it.

If you are using a 5.2 mp digital camera, I cannot see why you cannot take decent photos. Here is a good tip: take a pen or something, and let the coin lie on it. Let some light shine on it, a table lamp will do very well and get your camera out. You should check out the features before taking pictures. One of the most important features is the "flower" feature, which appears on most modern digital cameras. Press that. Before you press the button fully, gently press the button HALFWAY, so that you allow the camera to focus. If that appears clearly on your screen, then you are doing good. And that is where you should press the button fully.

Note: you should not go TOO close to the coin as cameras usually have some sort of minimum range to be fully optimized.

As for picture cropping, you should get a software called Irfanview, homepage should be http://www.irfanview.com . The software is FREE. It takes a bit of time to fool around, but it is very user friendly.

Hopefully those tips are useful to you.
