In recent years, after finishing my 7070 Type Set and putting together a simplified Proof Type Set of U.S. coins, I have focused on purchasing various "key date" U.S. coins when I go to my one big coin show each year (in addition to various notes for my ongoing U.S. Currency Type Set). Well, the big coin show is coming up soon at the end of July, and I really don't have anything in particular that I am looking for and would love some suggestions. My budget is up to a few thousand dollars for a coin in good condition, so that eliminates some of the more expensive options such as the 1856 Flying Eagle cent or the 1916 Standing Liberty quarter or pretty much anything made of gold these days. You can see the key dates I already have on my Slabbed Coins page, but here's a quick list:  1892 Liberty Head ("Barber") Dime 1892 Liberty Head ("Barber") Quarter 1892 Liberty Head ("Barber") Half Dollar (Proof) 1909-S Indian Head cent1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent1916-D Winged Liberty ("Mercury") Dime 1916-S Walking Liberty half dollar1921 Peace dollar1932-D Washington quarter1937 Buffalo nickel (3 Legs) 1952 Franklin half dollar (Proof) 1972 Eisenhower dollar (Type 2 Reverse) Anything else you'd suggest for a "key date" within the realm of affordability in decent shape? |

I can see that with all the heavy hitters on the list. We both "settled" for a 63 for that one. Much nicer than all the AUs I kept finding before it.  |

Simply amazing! I'd look into more 19th century coinage like large and Half Cents. Edited by srs77
