I got these Canadian coins for face value at the bank today...$4.20 US.

1980 and 1987 proof dollars
1980 and 1987 proof 50 cent pieces
and 2 1984 CN Jacques Cartier Commem MS dollars

I don't have a book to value these. Can someone tell me what these are worth?.

Thanks in advance!.

The 1987 dollar is a nice find. I see these go for $5, plus or minus. The reason is that there were no business strikes for that issue. The loonie began use that year.

The other stuff can usually be obtained for between 1 and 2 times face value, though the grade could push it higher.

When you say proof are you meaning the Royal Canadian Mint Proof Collector Series... being silver(esp. 1987 $)... may be impaired proof now. Or do you mean mint state nickel/circulation issues(esp. 1980 $)?

And the 50 cent pieces are they silver as well?

The Jack Cartiers are as you say nickel.

I've got the 2006 Charlton... I'll give you all the specs if you let me know... or did I miss something and there were no silver proofs for those years... yup, too lazy to dig up book, well, until you get back to me.

oops.. The Jacques are MS not proofs..

And the price listed for them in the first post are for the ones issues only for collectors - I was in the wrong section, apparently
MS prices: 15 in MS63, 25 in MS64, 75 in MS65.
Proof: 25 PR67

All prices are in CAD.

Solid edges but they don't "sound" like silver.

Well, the nickel examples will be attracted to a magnet and the silver examples won't be.
