Hello,

I just received my 2009 Proof Set in the mail and all looks well except the nickel. Did I miss something? When was the obverse of the nickel re-designed? Can anyone offer me anything? I'm about 2 months behind on my Coin World/Coin Values reading but how did I miss this?

Thanks,
Rich

The nickel was redesigned after the Lousiana Purchase bicentennial, it has had the same design since 2006. Also, it is not just the obverse, the reverse has been modified a bit as well(mainly detail strengthening).

Hello,

Thanks,

So technically I didn't miss anything I just haven't seen the new nickel design in circulation from 2006 to now and all of my Proof Sets until now have been 1980's. I'll post scans of the new Proof Set soon.

Thanks,
Rich
