These are a few I just got that I'm not quite sure about.

Does anyone know what kind the ancient coin is? It weighs 10.7 grams and has that extra material on the edge so I'm not sure if it's real or a replica.

The other two are large coppers, which appear to have a similar (though somewhat different) design of a Central American Rep. 8 reales, but I'm not aware of any copper versions. These two appear to have been in the ground for a while and are certainly quite old.

Thanks!

The ancient coin is a Fake of Jewish Bar-Kokhba silver coin (From the undated series). If it was real (And it's clearly not), it was worth At List several thousands of Dollars.
The original was made during the Second Jewish Revolt against Rome (Also known as "Bar Kokhba Revolt") in 132-135 A.D. (Not until 136 A.D. as some think).
Best of luck with the other two coins/tokens/jetons, that are not likely to be Jewish in nature.

I'm afraid all three are fakes.

With the two CAR 8 reales, the biggest indicators of fakeness to me are the sunrays - they're not actually pointing at the sun! I also can't find any examples with "ESTADOS" in the obverse legend, as both of these have. I'd suggest e-mailing Swamperbob for an estimate of their likely age and origin.

As for the "ancient", the design is that of a Jewish Second Revolt (Bar Kochba rebellion) silver sela. Example on CoinArchives. A very commonly encountered "tourist copy".

Eliyahu - thank you very much for that detailed info, I had a feeling that it looked to fresh to be an original.

Sap - Thanks again, I will bother Swamperbob on this one. I thought it was odd that anyone would make a copper imitation, as it wouldn't fool anyone.

Numismat No bother at all I love counterfeits. The two you have appear typical of early copper forgeries that were intended to carry a silver wash or plating. Some were even painted or dipped in mercury to pass. The crude nature of the dies points to a local origin or an origin in an area where originals were not commonly handled. I have one or two in my own collection.

I would hunt for any traces of an original coating as those can hold the key to the date. Electroplated coins are of later date than the washed type. Electroplating only developed in the 1840s or so. I would classify these as contemporary circulating counterfeits.

The other two coins are Honduras copper and lead 8 Reales, genuine and as made, meaning they look like they saw little wear. Yes, the coins were that crude! Dated 1856 through 1861. Full retail value on the two would be somewhere between 5 and 15 dollars each.

Legend reads:
Obv. MONEDA PROVISIONAL DEL ESTADO DE HOND.
Rev. LIBRE CREZCA FECUDDO T. (date) F. L.

Images below of a fairly high grade example from my collection ...

Edit .. was that the images were of my coin. Showoff that I am.

Wow thanks Swamperbob and Kristofferson. I had initially guessed that these may have been plated or washed at some point, but could find no sign. Now that I know it's Honduras, I've been able to find them in my book. Though after doing some comparisons, mine are very much cull examples.
Thanks again!
