Anyone know how to join two photos together using Gimp?
Would like to put the coin obverse and reverse side by side. It has been discussed using the panorama feature of Irfanview, but was wondering if any Gimp experts here would know. I've tried cut/paste/create but can't make it work.

I'm using Gimp 2.6.3. Your version may differ.

Open both images separately. Both must be precisely the same height in pixels. On one image, choose Image -> Canvas Size. Force the width only to an amount equal to the width of both images, and choose "all layers" from Resize Layers on the same screen.

Copy and Paste the second image into that. You'll have to move the second image; it'll probably partially paste over the first.

That's all there is to it.

Thanks SuperD. I'm using 2.6.6
I'll try your suggestion. When I tried to "pull" the width wider earlier, it doubled the height too. Let me play around with it a bit more.

I set it numerically, rather than pulling. Note, in the dialog box, a little "chain" icon to the right of where you enter the numbers - if you click on the "chain," it breaks the two width/height settings apart so you can change them separately.
