I picked up some rolls of halves today. Not much in them. Six 40% and a 2007D. The 07D was not minted for circulation so it had to come from a mint set or a mint roll/bag. My question.....is it worth holding on to? It is a nice coin has 3 or 4 bag marks on the obverse and one on the reverse. Other that that it i
looks really good. I do not collect the Kennedy halves, just hoard up the ones with silver content. What do you guys think?

I keep all the ones newer then 2002. Most of them seem to be worth more then 50c, but not always much more.

I suggest hanging on to any half dollar. They are fading away from circulation continuously. Soon most banks will not carry them at all. Around me all Bank of America branches have ordered their people to not accept any orders for them, if taken in they are to be sent to the Federal Reserve, none are to be given out, all in vaults are to be sent to the Fed, no employee is to keep them for any reason.

Well I am a coin alcoholic but I vote to keep it also.

I only went through one Box of Half's so far and some rolls but I kept about 200.00 worth as they looked like new so hated to see them get more scratches on them I figure what the heck they are worth 50 cents and maybe more that a dollar bill in the future?

The NIFC's do tend to carry a small premium. Which would make sense because they were originally sold from the mint for a premium. And the mintages get smaller and smaller all the time so NIFC kennedys aren't always that easy to find even at shows. I remember at the last show I went to I had to go to six different tables before I found an '05-D Kennedy half.

Then again, I love Kennedy halves. So if you don't want it you can always just spend it, or better yet offer it up here on the forum.

Since '06 I've been ordering the "P" & "D" Two Roll Set from the Mint....and yeah ...of course I would NEVER sell them for "face value" after having paid the U.S. Mints premium over face.
Really, I guess because they are NIFC, and I look out 30 years from now when they might potentially be long gone.......so.....why not.
10 year consecutive U.S. Mint wrapped P & D Kennedy's Rolls "might" be interesting to have in the future....albums/folders too......it's all good.

Since they are my favorite coin, I would hang on to it.
