Hello. I already sold this coin to Susan, so it is hers, but I was looking through Breen's and decided to check this coin out. (I gotta stop checking for this stuff after I sell it... need to do it before!!) Breen #3206 says: 1834 Small 4. Davis 7. Usually in low grades. At least 2 proofs. There is a picture, and in the picture it looks like the 4 barely goes above the 3, versus the large 4 goes quite a bit higher. It says nothing about rarity in Breen's. Anyone have any say on this? Jordan Two pictures were probably not really needed, but oh well.

Unfortunately, I loaned my Breen's to someone and won't have access to it for a while. I looked at a couple of large 4's on ebay and I think this may be a small 4. I couldn't find any that specified small 4 so I don't know if that makes it rare or not.

Once Susan has the coin Pics of the whole Obverse and Reverse will help in eliminating the large 4 varieties listed in breens,, The pics in the book are not of good enough quality to attribute this coin with any certianty.

Heritage has a number of both variants in their archives; based on their pics, this one looks like a small 4.

I'm pretty sure it's a small 4. Unfortunately, that doesn't affect the value until you get into the MS grades, though.

Bummer. I tried viewing prices on Heritage Archives... but could not get it figured out. Do you have to be registered, or what I just overlooking it?
