Hi all, I don't post much here "down under" but I thought I would with one of my latest purchases. I stumbled across this coin when buying some of the past issue Austrian Niobium 25 Euros. I really think that this coin is beautiful. Who would have ever thought of putting gold and copper together in a bi-metallic. Although I already own some Aussie coins to qualify for Knighthood, I thought that I would get one to be proud of (all of my others are circulated).

I don't know anything about this coin except for what came with the original packaging. Can anyone tell me more about my new favorite Aussie coin?

It's very nice. Well done.

Although sold separately it's one in a set of three, your "future" issued in 2001, the other two being "the past" issued in 1999 and "the present" in 2000.

The past coin is going for many $$$ at the moment.

Sounds about the normal price I ever saw this one go for. Usually ranged between AU$75 to AU$90 tops.
The last coin in the series always seems be the weak one as far as return go and I think something was mentioned once that not all the first 2 were either minted or sold, something like that. This meant there were more of the last coin than there were complete sets that could be made.
Please don't quote me on that as I'm going on memory from way back and my memory isn't that good at times
It does give you something to look into in your spare time though

Well done
Those figure were quoted from McDonalds 12th Edition
Which is a popular guide to the value of Aussie coins and banknotes.
I repeat guide.
I'm sure the Bigfella could organise you a copy. 13th Edition is the latest.
Some items go for much less than the guide and some go for more on ebay and other auction houses.
Really glad to hear your getting into Aussie coins.
Good Luck
