Looks English, the back like a Victoria Florin, but I don't any actual coin had that inscription. What's on the other side, then?

The 1887 Florin did not have this reverse, but the sixpence, shilling and half crown did. The half crown had more on the reverse, though, so I am leaning toward shilling. If we could get a little clearer pictures of both sides we could make sure, and get closer to a value for you

Mintage is unlisted, but price varies as:
F 2.50 VF 6.00 XF 12.00 UNC 28.00
It could be proof, it doesn't look proof.

If it's the sixpence, that's called the "withdrawn type" (there is another type they started minting in 1887). There is also a variety worth a bit more - it has the JEB initials on the truncation of the bust rather than under it. Looks like it might be VF - XF ...and WD are those prices in GBP?

WD, I was wondering because those are the exact prices listed in my 2009 Spinks, only they list in GBP Only UNC is different at $25. Breic4, for the JEB *on* the truncation, the prices listed (in GBP) are as follows: Fine: 15, VF: 45, EF: 100, UNC: 215 (graded by GB standards) Just fyi, one other variety for this one: R/V in Victoria with the following listed prices: Fine: 10, VF: 35, EF: 80, UNC: 185

huh... I think the best guide for a coin is from the country of its origin (if it's available). Like for my paper AUD50, it's listed as FV in my Krause but in Maccas it's listed as AUD135 or so
