Hi, I am a new poster. While searching the internet, I found this Coin Community. Loved the post on different coin edges which led me to joining.

I found a scalloped edged (dodecagon) coin. Probably bronze or copper. Has picture of a camel with rider on one side. On the other side is an elongated oval shape which I believe means 5. It has Arabic writing on the coin. I thought it might be Egyptian. The date seems to be 1907, but I may be reading it improperly because the 0 looks a lot like the elongated oval which is on the other side. So, it could be 1957 if they used that symbol rather than the tradition zero. Anyone have any ideas on this coin?

Thanks for any help.

TXTraveler- welcome to the forum!
I'm sorry to say that I not familiar with the coin you are describing. If you were to post some pictures of your interesting coin, we would be able to help you identify this coin in a flash.

Hello and welcome.

The "camel and rider" was long a symbol of Sudan. While other countries have used camels and riders, too, Sudan is always a good place to start.

I believe this is your coin, a five milliemes from Sudan. Your "1907" date is actually 1956, as written in Arabic numerals.

Wow, good catch, Sap! That appears to be the one, I would presume.
