I have this Wisconsin State Quarter that is very dark and dull looking, is it missing a top layer?

Hi erratic1

If the coin was missing a layer ,it would have the copper core exposed.

Im not sure what happened to that coin ? where did you get it from ? out of circulation ? mint roll?

As I recall I got it out of circulation from a bank.

I think it might have been dropped in some type of chemical or something that removed all the luster.
