More just an FYI to the few folks that bought the HSN Lincoln Cent program. I just received shipment #2. The coins are pretty much as expected, however, they forgot the ANACS form for the 2 gradings. I called HSN who slipped and told me that they'd notify the vendor. I asked who the vendor was? She really wanted to conclude the call at that point, but finally said it was Collectors Alliance. The name means nothing to me, but maybe will to you folks.

Yea, mine just came today. I'm not sure the cert was supposed to be in there. I thought that was only for the first shipment? I'm considering cancelling it after looking at the MS-67 slabs.

The P mint is very nice for this issue compared to the others I've looked at, however, the D mint is closer to MS-64. My D mint has a huge hit above the LIBERTY, about 3 mm long and it's deep. The reverse also has a couple minor, but noticable, hits. The ONLY thing these have going is reduced spotting and border starring. This is especially important on the D mints. They are absolutely horrible with the starring...at least from all that I've seen and the two rolls I cracked open.

It seems to me ANACS is really missing the grade with this "special arrangement" with HSN. I'd love to really the know the process for finding their ANACS coins.

Did HSN offer to send you the certificates? I might need to call!

I watched HSN again the other night. Amazing how he says he sends them 3 MILLION coins every year to grade......and of course how he gets the "special discount deal" from them....(and of course how the "savings" is passed on to us ! Ha Ha )
Maybe their "quality control" is getting bad as they make more money doing this grading for HSN and this business deal might be "over saturating them". Perhaps they should hire some more "trained experts" and pay them a decent salary for their work.
How funny would it be if it were found out that ANACS was hiring ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS and giving them a 2 hour "quickie course" in grading coins. !
I'm sorry ......I did not just say that ! ....

And of course, every time they sell a slabbed coin, they say "You're looking at that gorgeous oak box, and $30.00 just for the grading! And it's only $39.99!"

I'm a little surprised that here is a thread about buying coins from the HSN when normally the coin collecting community has nothing but aweful things to say about the HSN and for good reason. Are they actually offering up a good deal this time that I am unaware of?

Elimist - In a word, yes. The Gradiing cert. makes it so. However, we are all starting to wonder if the ANACS grading of the Lincoln's is being performed properly.

Just got a recorded call from HSN...the Certificate for the two free gradings is being sent under separate cover and should arrive shortly.
