I only kept this 1983 cent because it had some reverse die cracks but when I examined the obverse later on, I found a spot above Lincoln's shoulder that was 'different'. The only error I can think of is Lamination, and I dont really know much about that. Does anybody know exactly what this is? Thankyou

It doesn.t look like lamjnation to me. Lamination is more like"peeling" of the metal. Yours looks like a die chip or something along those lines.

What you have is commonly called a Prisoner Cent! Due to the Die Clashing of the Memorial Building's Columns onto the Obverse of the coin, it appears that Lincoln is in a Jail or Prison Cell. Nice find!

I guess I never thought of a clashed die. I never thought that a clashed die would be so defined either! Thanks Again
