This is the second year of the Royal Shield design.

Coin was scanned at work on an Epson Stylus DX3850. Used Microsoft Office Picture Manager to crop the image before posting.

I got 4 shiny ones out of the self service in tescos today, untouched as far as I can see, woop. Though I am not into collecting years, I also got the 2008 old design £1 coin, which because most £1s are different I have collected.

I still have not seen any other 2009 coins and still have not seen a few of the old style 2008 coins in circulation either (2 pence, 20 pence, and 50 pence).

In 2008, they made both the Royal Shield Design and older design.

Finding Royal Shield 2008 coins from circulation are not the problem but finding some of the 2008 older designs are. Also have not seen either of the 2008 £2 in circulation.

Oh the £2 and 50p commemoratives are a pain. I have still only got one of the two 2007 £2 coins, none of the 2008, though I think the change over coin is not being released into circulation. I don't think I have the 2008 50p either.
(It does not help that I was living abroad for a year, but hey. My "suppliers" also seem to have more on their mind than looking at the coins in their pockets either.)
