I understood that the next quarter to be released (June 23, 2009) was for bobsleighing. I just received one , but it has a 2008 date, not 2009. Did I miss something some where?

Yeah, apparently there was some sort of delay on these. They were supposed to be released last August, or something.

thanks for the link.
I read the only 'review' there, and it asked the same question I have - why 2008 when released mid 2009.

But regardless, thank you for the correct information that I was looking for.

Ill tell ya why.
In 2007 (and still right now), you are able to buy the complete set of these olympic 25 cents, along with the loonie, that already had the 2008 date. See link below.
Also contained within this set, are the un-released coins for circulation that have 2010 on them as well
It seems the delay with releasing the bobsledding coin was with the Petro Canada collector cards and those for general circulation.
Tho I agree releasing a coin and backdating it by 1 year seems weird, it seems the logical thing to do under the circumstances.
If not we would have had another variety to collect, tho thats not to suggest thats a bad thing.

Ah, yes, I remember you could get the entire collection "ahead of time" for an obscene price. Naturally, if they had dated the Bobsleds 2009, it would have made the ones in the collection rare, and we couldn't have the Mint knowingly making a rarity now, could we?

I've seen A LOT of these listed on ebay & other sites will ALL of them being listed as mule errors? Since it was a delay in release, can this still be considered a mule? Personally I don't think so, but the yahoo on ebay thinks that he can get $150 per roll. Good luck bub!

I guess I was wrong about no one buying them @ $150 per roll... he's down to 3 remaining.

Are there any that say 2009? I didn't think so, but I thought I'd ask the pros. Thanks...

As far as I know there aren't any that say 2009. Wikipedia has this little blurb under Royal Canadian Mint Olympic Coins:

Quote:
2009 bobsleigh mules have also been found in circulation and colorized carded coins.

But they don't reference the statement or provide examples, so I doubt they know what they are talking about (read: someone just added it to the original article).
Unless I'm mistaken, which is always possible, this auction is fraudulent.
