Just got a 2009 Proof set from a flea market coin dealer. Real nice set. This is the first time I got to see the new cents. Price was right at 35.00. Same as ordering from the mint and didn't have to wait. I have a feeling that this set is going to be popular and go up in price. Any one agree?

I think the mint is going to make so many of them that they will eventually be worth less than the issue price like most of the past mint products. The penny sets may do well for a while as long as the Lincoln craze continues.

I agreed, we'll most likely see these go down in price because the mint will make and sell millions of them. Honestly not many modern proof sets increase in value. In fact, most of them go down from issue price. When my Grandfather gave me his collection he had tons of proof sets on which he wrote the price he paid. I was dismayed to see that most of them had book values lower than what he paid.

I honestly wouldn't care whether it goes up or down in price. Most of my coin collecting purchases have the purpose of being enjoyed in my collection not investment appeal.

I have to disagree with the naysayers. I think this set will be very popular in the near future. Many people and collectors may not be interested in the territorial quarters until it is to late. And the first year for the new cents is going to be popular in my opinion. I will wait and see. Even if I am wrong, I will still enjoy this proof set.
