Now here is something that I've been wondering about. With all this about buying American, Just who makes our US coin collecting supplies?
We all know that the recent TV change over to Digital has only really helped China, Japan, etc and anyone that makes TV's, those converter boxes and antennae.
So just who makes our coin supplies? I've been trying to find out using the internet and/or phone and in many instances it is like a secret unless they are made in the USA.
So I went to Google and typed in Coin Albums and came up with many names and tried checking them out.
Dansco brags about being made in the USA.
Littletone also brags about being made in the USA.
So far I could not find out where the following are made:
Armored Brand USA 360, Airtight, EAgle, Super SAfe, Gardmaster.
Amazed at how many people on these coin forums brag about Intercept Shield and those are make in China. And on the back of the one I have it states for maximum protection, replace the entire album every 15 years.
Another interesting item is Whitman was bought out by H.E.Harris in 2003. They also make HARRIS ALBUMS, U.S.MINT ALBUMS and now WHITMAN ALBUMS. And just can't find out where those are made.
Any info from anyone?

Well a business partner and I have just started having 3 ring coin albums and 2x2 album pages made for us right here in Australia. Not made in America but not in China either. They are 100% PVC free, 100% softener free and 100% acid free. I use these for my own collection now because I know the materials they are made from, and the factory they are made in. We've started distributing them with some success down under so here's hoping they catch on.

We decided to get our own products made because getting information on where collecting supplies are made and what they are made from is VERY VERY difficult. And I hate putting my coins into an album or album page and not knowing if it will come out the same way I put it in.

Exactly why I started to investigate just where our coin items are produced. I was amazed about Intercept Shield because so many rave about their quality. Not only made in China but actually warn on the product to replace every 15 years for safety. Now someone posts that Whitman is possibly made in China.
This all well be one of the reasons Dansco is so popular and appears so well made.
It's not that I'm against products being made in other countries, it's just that I sure wish we Numismatist could better support our own coins and currency with products made here.
Oh well, back to watching my Japan made TV, wired with Coaxial cable from China and an Antenna made who knows where with my feet on a coffee table made in India.

Since Markn didn't plug his own site, I thought I would for him. I am in no way associated with it, as you will see if you visit.
