At first, I unappreciated China, didn't think I would have had fun or enjoyed myself.
Boy, was I wrong.
Our first stop over was a Beijing, where we went down a certain Pedestrian Street, where the atmosphere was brilliant. We even tried some Scorpions on a stick. It tasted disgusting! but still an experience, that I'll never try again.
A nice cool beer was something that reduced the feeling of heat that was upon us.
We visited the Forbidden City, Great Wall (which was brilliant) and the centre square. No coins there.

After Beijing we travelled by train to Xi'an where we experienced the Teracotta Warriors (which is truly fascinating) and the Big Great Goose Pagoda. It was just another temple.

We then travelled by plane to Guilin, which was extremely humid but it didn't let us down. The place was gorgeous and serene. We did visit some caves, with interesting stalactite/mite formation.

That was a day stop over to go to Yangshou by a river cruise, where we stayed for 5 nights. A truly superb town!
Right on the river, was our hotel. The food in the hotel was superb! Dumplings in the morning, and a fresh homemade Burger for dinner. Lunch was out in town.
We went kayaking there, as well as bamboo river rafting.
In Yangshou I did manage to pick up a silver piece from the late Ching dynasty. Pics up soon. from an Authentic Antique Store.
I didn't bother with buying fake Trade dollars. You can see the rust and discolouration on these fakes. Surprisingly I didn't see any actual silver fakes.

After the beautiful Yangshou, we headed to Shanghai.
Wow! is all I can say! It is so advanced. 5 level flyovers, Flyover roundabouts. Malls! The tech is brilliant!
I met a friend who used to live in Kuwait, over there, she showed me around, went fake shopping, bought some 600GB USB drives for $3.
Loved the bargaining.
We also went to the water town over there and saw an eastern Venice. Obviously doesn't compare to the real thing.

After the lovely China, we flew to Singapore. I've been to Singapore twice before.
We stayed at a family friends house.
No sightseeing for us, as we been already.
My main priority was to check out a University there called NTU. One of the best tech universities in the world.

Unfortunately, I cannot apply, they require the original A level Grades in the application, and my original A level results come out in Mid-August. By that time I would have already chosen and paid up to some other university. So that was a big dissapointment.

Following that, I went to buy some Guitar gear, Pedals and Pickups.
and my brother bought a new Yamaha Alto.
I went with my dad to a Mall (I've been before) but still love it.
It is full of High End Hi-Fi equip. My dad is a true Audiophile, where he strives to improve sound by minute details. The day I went the coin shop was closed.

Anyways the following day, I went to my usual other coin store, where I went on my last two visits. Did buy some nice Japanese Silver and some currency.

Then had Chili Crabs and went clubbing along Clark Quay. Tiger beer is great here!

I am sad to be back home so early in the summer. My school starts in September.
In terms of coins, I'd have expected to buy more.
But still, better than nothing.

Just a note about the Big Wild Goose pagoda: at the top level's window, there is a small ledge on the outside. People toss money there for good luck and whatnot. When I was there, I saw a Yuan Shikai dollar that (I hope! Otherwise who in their right mind would wish on a counterfeit?!) was covered beneath newer coins and bills (but I recognized it was a large dollar!)

And it's good you went on the Yangshou cruise! I hope you didn't get sunburned like my uncle... rub some aloe on it if you did, though.

What's with this foreigner fascination with scorpions and starfish? When I went to Beijing, all I saw at those stalls were backpacking foreigners... and a crowd of Chinese people with lamb kabobs (from the next stall) watching their reactions. ah ha ha ha ha ha ha... good times....

Hope you had fun! Enjoy college!

Haha I bet the locals were having a laugh at us.
Thinking: "What Idiots...who in their right minds eat scorpions, Hmm... I'll stick to KFC"

I new you'd have a blast in China; It's just an amazing country! I wasn't brave enough to try the scorpions, though.

China is great, I knew you would love it. It is my favourite country to visit. Everyone says the same thing, "I'm not going to like it", but when you get there, it blows you away. There is just so much to do you nearly spend the whole time without sleep. The last few times I have been were for the Canton trade fair and I didn't have time for much else. Next time will be for a bit more sight seeing and I will take the family.

In an ideal world I would live there a few months every year.
