I've always wanted to see counterfeit polymer notes! Do any of you have pictures?
Rest in Peace

I went to the link and there was a pic to the left. Clicked on the pic and the sub-title in the new window said it was a pic of the bogus fifty.

Careful what you wish for WD1040 I once was out for a night with a young lady , we had a great time in the city and thought it prudent to stop at an off license for some refreshment on the way back to my house..things couldnt have been going better..until the lady behind the counter announced I had just passed her a counterfeit 10 pound note.I had to wait there until the cops came , give my story..id no idea where I got it , in change somewhere..taxi I suspect.
Meanwhile my companion wisely disappeared into the night in a taxi home.
I get to hang around a liquer store feeling like I done something wrong waiting for the cops , get hassled there and the final insult was No..i couldnt have my 10 pounds back nor could I have the wine and ciggies..my misery complete I walked home.

oh hey, they put up a picture! hm... I wonder if the entire note is plastic. At least the window looked like it.

and wetglaswegian, I'm so sorry to hear that! I guess any taxi money must be checked twice. In China, there was a campaign to stop people giving large bills for taxi fares because the change often had a fake :(

So the notes aren't polymer material...that's reassuring, they won't get far.

Duty Superintendent Mike Murphy says there have also been reports of fake $50 notes circulating in Darwin that do not have a name under the portrait.

Sorry, officer, but those aren't fakes - they're simply genuine notes from an older series. When the polymer notes were first issued, the portraits were un-named.
