I'd say some poor bugger has had his/her collection burgled and sets are being broken up & spent. As far as I know, Norman Lindsay Dollars were only available in the 2007 & 2008 Magic Pudding / Unc Baby sets that sold for about $50 - $75. Some dealers have sold the coins separately for around $40 - $50 each.

It's hard to imagine the owners ever spending them. No way I'd break up a set to spend the coins at FV. Maybe some kids purloined Mum or Dad's treasures, but 100km's is a bit far for kids to go & spend them, I still think they were most likely the proceeds of a burglary. Too big a coincidence to find 2 in two days too.

The burglars are probably spreading them around so as to not bring too much attention to themselves. They might have come from the other side of Australia, no one will ever know.

My home was burgled in 1996, but fortunately for me, the burglars were disturbed by me coming home. The Police ssid it was an unfinished job & that the burglars would be back to finish it off. Hah! Not plurry likely!I got security screens & doors, deadlocks & a monitored alarm system installed, took 2 weeks & for that time, I never left the house.

All TV's, VCR's, computers, printers, electronic stuff taken, coins not touched, 'cos they hadn't got to that part of the house.
