Described as a lost Morgan design being minted by the New York Mint. Does anyone know if this is for real or just a reproduction. Also, never heard of the New York Mint? Googling "New York Mint" I came up with this: http://www.newyorkmint.net/ This is not an actual coin but a commemorative medallion. NGC has recently begun grading/slabbing items that are not true coins (which is why there is a pic of one in an NGC slab). This commemorative medal has no actual monetary value, it only has the value of the silver content. Personally, I do not see this item as worth the $99 being asked for it. New York Mint ,, Never heard of them ,, but my guess is that they are of the same league as National collectors Mint,, and make reproduction coins most of them 100 mil silver plated,, These coins although sometimes they are pretty ,, Do not in actuality carry any Numismatic value since they are not connected with the US mint in any way,shape or form. IMHO calling them coins is mis leading if not down right dis honest, they would be more honestly represented as medallions or tokens. Rick Report this Post to the Staff
