Hi Laxmaster
Rolls of Cents are .50 cents each at the banks everyday !!
I still after all this weathering look through about 50.00 in cents each month,, take out what I want re roll and return the balance for more rolls to look through.
average is about 12 wheat cents per 1000 cents looked through, I have even taken Indianhead cents out of rolls from the bank.
Belive it or not, you can still put togther a pretty nice nickel collection from rolls, the only ones you may have to buy are the silver war issues, but every now and then even one of those will pop out of a roll from the bank !!

Thanks MEtalman! So basically just go to the bank and ask for a couple of rolls of say nickles or pennies? Then after you take out what you want then you can bring them back? I dont really get that part. So you can get pretty good stuff from rolls at banks then. Ill try that out. Can you just expalin that one part please?
THanks alot!

If you go to the bank and get 5.00 worth of cents, take them home look through them, and keep for example 50 pennies, that leaves you with 9 rolls of cents 4.50 that can be taken back to the bank,, where you can add .50 cents to them and get another 5.00 worth of cents to take home and look through.
its best to use one bank to get the coins from and another to take them back to, this way you wnt get the same rolls you have already taken back.
I actually return my rolls in a different town.

That is what I was going to sugest that is what I have been doing I went to the coin shop and bought a few coin folders. I have a Cent, Nickel, and dime book also the State Quarter are a fun place to start if you have not done that. I have been buying about 5 to 10 dollar every other week and looking through them to fill in my book and then I take tht rolls back and get new one. or if you do not what to roll them up yourself you could take them to a coin star machine. It cost a little but saves time. This is a fun why not to spend much money and still be able to get coins plus let you start your collection. If you do not have a coin store new you there are alot of website that sell cheap coin folders.I would say a Dansco folder or Whitman folder are good ones to get. also know that you have 50 post you can post a message that you are wanting to buy roll of wheat, or what ever you might be looking for I know there are alot of members that have alot of rolls they might have for sell.

Rolls and bags of wheat cents have gone up in recent years, but they are still cheap. Before the prices went up, I bought four bags of 5000 each from a local coin shop. The bags, then, were $100 for mixed-dates, mostly 1940's and 1950's, and $200 for 1939 and earlier. The mix was pretty good, and there were a few semi-key dates. Rolls were also availabe for a few dollars each, but since I had the money and I love to hoard things, I went for the bags. Since then, I think the prices have approximately doubled. Here is an offer that I have seen recently in Coin World, and it looks interesting to me. I haven't ordered anything yet, but I am thinking about it. It is a bulk offer of British pre-decimal pennies, halfpennies, and farthings. These might be fun to look through, and they would make a great hoard. I don't know if there are better deals out there on these items, but the prices seem reasonably good. Here is the company's website: http://tinyurl.com/q5wle It didn't like the ((I can't seem to get the forum to post this address correctly; you will have to copy-and-paste it into your browser.
