I see some detail in the crown band and hair. I'm leaning towards EF40...others?

nice. Though in my defense you asked for grade so I looked at high points and field condition. I didn't inspect for counterfeit.

Please do not take offense. I am just attempting to show/make wary the novice collector. Malissa, education is our only hope. :-)

It looked like an EF grade to me but I know nothing of the series thats why I did not comment before. but as malissa said you asked for grade not authenticity thanks for the lesson. I will grade it EF-fake

The individal who owns the coin/s apparently 47 in total (all Newfoundland)is doing articles for CCN. We must be careful.

Counterfeit from China

Hmm...if that's obvious from those pics, perhaps you could describe the tell-tale signs of this particular forgery? Outside of some weak denticles on the reverse, I don't see anything glaring. The portrait looks very true to the coins I own--which I sincerely doubt are fakes, LOL.

Malissa, what does this coin weigh?

The 7 is wrong, the L and the N have blobs not flares. For 3 quick markers.

well, a real one is supposed to weigh 2.33 grams. I am going to come back and post a picture of a lower grade 1947 of mine to compare to so people can see the difference. (hopefully)

Thanks...I'll give it some thought.
I have to admit, I'm skeptical anyone would go to that much trouble...because the portrait looks good.
