im bach again, with probably another example of Machine Doubling. I am still unable to tell the difference. "coppercoins" site lists eleven RPM's, but shows photos, and inflrmation for only two. so - have I found something- or just another case of MD. thanks.

It's likely to be MD. No sign of the second D on the inside of upright of the D.

It's also called shelf doubling. Notice how 2nd D is thinner than the mint mark, sorta like a shelf and like rockdude said, no vertical bar to the right of the MM bar.
