I'm coming to town for the ANA convention next week, but I still need to get a hotel room. From what I've heard, there are no hotels near the convention center, and the closest ones are expensive.

With money being tight, I'm looking for a moderately priced place (Super 8 or Motel 6 quality) within public transporation or walking distance (trying to avoid the expense of a car rental). For me, "walking distance" can be a mile or even more, as I try to stay in halfway decent shape. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure if rooms are booked or if they are gouging people because of the event:

Holiday Inn
1020 S Figueroa and Oly
Los Angeles, CA 90015
(213) 748-1291ý
only a few blocks from the Convention Center

another Holiday Inn
1020 S Figueroa St
Los Angeles, CA 90015
+1 877-863-4780
but again, real close, so they may be overpricing their rooms

Quality Inn
603 South New Hampshire Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90005
+1 213-385-4444
About a block from a Metrolink station, and a few stops away from the Convention Center

I'll try find some more if these are no help. Remember, LA is a big city, with limited Mass Transit for its size. If you stay south of the Convention Center, and ride the Metrolink in, you will be going through Compton. It's not that is totally unsafe, but I wouldn't even give them any idea on the way in or out that you are visiting a Coin Show.

There are also quite a few of Days' Inn/Motel 6 type joints in/near Hollywood close to metrolink stations along Hollywood and Sunset Blvds. I do not know for sure, but based on google maps, they look to be less than hour probably closer to a half hour away from the convetion along hte metro.

I am staying at hotel figueroa.

I suggest strongly spending a liitle more than usual. Motel 6 in THAT area will not be that safe/comfortable
