1824-Capped-Bust-50-Cent

For some odd reason, I went on a Bustie buying spree at the bid board the past couple weeks. Until this point, I have only ever owned one Bust Half so I basically tripled by Bustie collection This 1824 is the first one I picked up. I had not researched it but I noticed the strong overdate and figured I couldn't go wrong so I went ahead and bid, winning it for $33. I have tentatively attributed it as an O-103(R1) 24 over various dates and graded it AG-3. Let me know what you think and if I attributed it properly although this one was pretty easy

Don't know about the attribution but it's under-graded at AG3.

The obverse is close to VG8 - I'd say G06 for sure. The reverse is close to G06 but I'd go G04.

Overall: G06 or Good Plus in my book. Looks to be an original piece and a good buy at $33.

I don't know, I tend to agree with the AG3, G-4 a best. Rimsa re worn down too far into the letters and I don't see drawn stars so you can't blame it on late die stage.

AG.

as far as the Overton, there is something strange here.

The Obverse appears correct, yet the reverse is not.
the 5 (of 50) top bar is in the wrong place in relation to the feathers on the arrow.

The 5 should be more to the left.

Looks fine for O-103 to me. To me the 5 seems to be just fine where it is. All the letters in the motto seem to line up just right with the letters above them.

That sounds right on the money for the level of wear shown.

I still would grade this coin as "Good" but seem to be in the minority.
