What couuld this thing potentially sell for? I would rate it at around MS 60 or just a hair better. All the info I find on it online hasnt told me much. Its got no letter on the back which means it was a Philadelphia mintage. Anyone know more about this particular coin and what its value is?

If in fact it's MS60, your looking at $2,500-$2,600 granted it has not been altered in any way (cleaned, scratched, ex-jewelry etc.) Now, if your coin is a Denver or New Orleans mintmark, By the way,

I dont have it here to get pics of it but I can post tomorrow. But I can assure its in really good quality. It was bought back in 1943 by my girlfriends family so it didnt get handled much and it sat in a jewelery box undisturbed till I got it. I just want to mostly know the general value of it cause I'm planning on selling it. But I can guarantee its authentic.

Well, you have to have 50 posts or more to list it here for sale. Those are the rules of the CCF. Make sure to review the rules of the CCF before any further posts.

Will do. I looked at the reverse side of it and there is no mint mark under the wreath on the back which means it was minted in Philly am I right? and does that make any difference in its value and rarity?

yes the mint will definitely matter on value. But as was said if it is indeed a MS-60 it would still be probably in the neighborhood of a $2,000.00 coin, if it had a D in MS-60 its around a $70,000.00 coin, if it had a O it would be around a $40,000.00 coin

Although I greatly dislike the grading services, the three dollar gold is a coin that really needs to be authenticated since it is one of the most counterfeited coins in the US series. When ANACS first opened up well more than 60% of all of the three dollar gold pieces submitted turned out to be fake.

So true condor. I have had first hand experience with fake $3 gold. Not fun, not fun at all. :-(
