I picked up this toned 20 cent a few months back. It's got a lot of character and has really grown into being one of my favorites in my collection. The colors are unlike any I have seen on a 20 cent, so thought I'd share. I got it out of my safe deposit box to work on those scratches on the PCGS holder which are most evident on the obverse in the photos.

This is definitely one you don't see everyday...Yes it is a Proof 1875 graded PR62 with deep mirrors, I think it's close to a 63 though.

At most auto parts or hardware stores they carry a product called the "Power ball". They hook into your drill and really do work good if you have the right RPM on your drill.

You can repolish slabs with minimal effort and save any fees.

Most plastic shops carry the acrylic polish and it goes step 1, 2 and 3 to bring it back crystal clear.

I have not actually looked for one but has anyone posted a how-to on repolishing slabs? If not, next time I have one in disrepair I will post pics of the entire proccess. Start to finish in about 5 minutes.

Beautiful example by the way. Very nice coin. I have been waiting on finding the right one for my set but I always pucker when I see the pricetags.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

As already noted at most auto parts places they sell scratch removers for plastics. Usually now used for headlight covers. I recently purchased some so called scratch remover from Walmart. Myself and a neighbor tried it on a few really, really scratched and fogged up headlight lense on a car. Uterly fantastic results. Not like new but possibly 90% improvement. There were several different types at Walmart and I've seen some at Kmart too. Try a little on that slab. Will not hurt and may well save you some money in the long run.

Tilt that puppy into the light, Ken. Let's see some of that color and mirrors! My 1876 is PF63 and it's a definite shot 64. PCGS is really tough on these Proofs now.
Rest in Peace

That coin is beautiful. I've always had a thing for odd denomination coins (especially 3CS), but I can't afford a Twenty Cent Piece at the moment.

I'll pay ya 40 cents

In all seriousness though, it's a great coin and I'd love to have one of that quality some day. More likely, I will just get an AU-58 1875, as I can't stand having an 1875-S since they're so.......common compared to the rest.
