Hi

I was going through some U.S. bank rolls of dimes
earlier and I pull out and check the Cans. also Is it worthwhile
to keep let's say, the 1970,71,91,96,97 ?
I found a decent 91 so it reminded me of other lower mintage dimes.
At least lower compared to other years :)
I also had another question about the 1999-P dime.
I had a post earlier about this one but I am still confused
as to what and where the P is and should be located. I think it is
referring to it as a mintmark and not the P you see that means plated.
I just heard it was a dime worth keeping.
Thanks.

There isn't anything rare about those dimes you listed. The 1999 P is scarce as it has a low mintage of 20,000.

O.K. Thanks. I'll just toss them all back.
I still do not know what that 1999-P looks like though.
I see a P on some but ? Maybe someone has a pic. of the plated one
and the one with the P mintmark.
One final about any 2000 dime. Any of them worthwhile ?

I disagree with the statement about 1970 dimes.
The 1970 date is the rarest business strike of the non-silver dimes, only 5 million minted. I would hang onto them.

I find one 1970 dime for every 10 silver dimes I find in dime rolls.

mintmark or plated.

Most "P" dimes are very common, including 2001 to the present.
The only ones worth keeping an eye out for are 1999P and 2000P dimes.
1999P dimes were loaned to vending machine manufactureurs for testing and several were not returned and wound up in private collections. The mint made about 10000 1999P coin sets and released them as collectables to cash in the demand. 2000P dimes are even rarer.

1999P and 2000P are not business strikes and are very rarely seen in circulation, unless someone not familar with their value breaks open a set and spends them :(

In summary, I would look out for the following Canadian dimes:
1969 Large Date
1970
1990P
2000P

I have the 1999 P test PL set. The mintage is 20,000 according to the Charlton.

As for the 1970 dime, maybe the mintage is about 5.2 million, however it doesn't command much value unless its in mint state condition.
