Sorry for the new post, I'm not sure how many people were going to check back at the old post.

I posted last night about a coin that I thought was italian, and double sided. Today, I have pictures of the coin, and it's not double sided, but actually two coins split and pieced together. Also, it rubs off... some kind of grey coloring whenever you rub it on paper. I have pictures of all this. Can someone tell me a history of the coin? Why is it split and sided together like this? I'm assuming there's a reason behind it, considering it's an old foreign coin.

Also, what is the rub off stuff on the coin?

Hello spooky,

this is an italian piece, it's made out of led/lead, and is made for gambling, you always win!!

It shows the Italian ruler Vittorio Emanuele the 3th, from a 20 centesimi piece, see Krause catalog under italy nr. 75 to 75d, properbly made bethween 1936/1940 or after.

It's a simple way to copy a coin, made in wax, and filled with led/lead to copy it. You can do it at home with anny coin you want.

Greetings, Carl

Hey, thanks for the reply!

So, basically it's a split and waxed worthless lead coin? Lol, whoopee. [:p]

Oh well, it was worth finding out. I have a collection of foreign coins, about 500 or so, I've been collecting for years. Some date back to the 1800's. This one fell into my collection, and always kind of stood out, having the same thing on both sides, Lol.

Thanks for the info!

you will find anny cind of coins which always be a surprise, one of the fun things in collecting ;-)
