Don't know if it's a 1858/7 or a Snow Variety, but the rim is raised on the obverse. I think the Reverse had a weak strike.

A few details I missed and pointed out, plus others I always noticed.

This is probably one of the harder overdates to attribute, since the actual 8/7 is very hard to see--especially on LDS coins. The obverse on your coin doesn't have the "broken wing tip", which is one marker, as well as the MPD (raised bump)halfway between the 8 in the date and the eagle's breast. Here's a page on the 1858/7 with a photo

It could be another Snow variety too. I'll check with what's on the site. Thanks for the link too . I've been looking for a page with all the SNOW varieties.
Rest in Peace

I didn't see that in the first pics. That 5 is sure interesting...it looks like an RPD to me, not MD.
There are a couple of RPDs for 1858, although I don't have the markers. I'll see what I can find...

Nope, it's not either of the two 1858/7 overdates, but it looks like an RPD to me.
In other words--the same date was repunched on the die. That 5 is a marker for that, but I'm still not sure which.

Yep--it's a possibility
I tried looking up both online, no luck yet.

SNOW-9 - 1858/1858: Low Leaves

SNOW-12 - 1858/1858: High Leaves

Should this go to Error Coins forum now?

So...yours is a "low leaves", which makes it Snow-9?
I don't have a FE variety book, but maybe someone else can confirm.

None of the pictures for 9 or 12 show anything under the date like yours, from what I can see.
