quote: SS, that is likely to be the weight of the "gold only" as the 01 and 05 sets both had total gold weight of 114.59grams (3.684oz). Geez SS, you're not serious with your question about whether weight includes outer wooden case...that only weighs close to 1kg.
Yes my question was serious. In Perth I have never even seen one of the past gold sets without being able to pick one up to see how much it weighs and have no idea how thin/thick the wooden box is or how well it was made and with what type of wood.

Well the wooden case is made of good ol' Australian Jarrah....and weight wise would be similar to that of the Fine Proof silver sets (if u needed a guide). If you ever decide to visit Sydney for that exhibition with PRA, I can show you one of the past gold sets. quote: Originally posted by secretsquirrel

OK guys because nobody seem like business minded here I give you a free tip. Even a bullion 1-ounce kangaroo coin sells 920+ on ebay, or a 1/10 gold $100+. Just buy the set and sell it individually, and you are almost guaranteed to do well. This is the reason I bought more than one sets with confidence. Otherwise if you are tight on cash collect the US 1 cent pieces, since the cooper is 3 times the face value of the coin you can build your wealth on your own pace. Actually that was two free tips.

I purchased one of the eight piece gold sets a few days ago. I went back and bought another this morning,I hope there will be stock. The 2005 set of six does not blend the art very well. You have three coins with a war theme and the rest are very nice. I would not buy the set just for a bad mix. The eight coin set has consistant theme, and art.

Hi Floyd What they are telling you about delivery times? I ordered my 2006 set more than 2 week ago. I believe the 2005 set sold out this week. I still could order one on Friday, but I have to receive it before I leave early next month. I only bought this one because with GST refund this will cost me only $3000

Why don't you take a free daytrip to New Zealand and claim back the GST?

Not sure if dealers get a discount, may be worth asking and if they do they may pass on a small amount onto you?

Lars....I may be wrong, but given the very low mintage, this set was not offered to dealers for retail. All purchases had to be direct from the Mint.

Got no idea Lim, would have to take your word for it.
This set was out of my price range even with a discount.

No dealers on this one. Trying to get the GST back is the only discount you will get here. The main reason not the low mintage, but the sudden gold price spark early this year. The RAM would be much better of melting down these sets than offer a dealers discount. Let your calculator and brain work together to figure out the details, or reading my earlier posts will also help.

Sorry I have been on a bit of vacation. The fist set I ordered on 5/12/06 it arrived UPS 5/24/06. I ordered the second set on 5/14/06 and it has yet to arrive as of 6/03/06. We had a holiday in there. The art and boxing is some of the best I have seen. I also took a shot at the silver boxed set. It has the same coins but depicts the queen at a much younger age on the obverse. Forty years I think. I like art, and find coins a nice way to collect what I like. I do buy US but not right now with the big raise in price.I wish S.A. Had a real program but I would guess they really would rather not. Mintage is so low in Proof sets that interest is hard to come by.The Austrialian Mints to date have always been in a two week to thirty day delivery from either mint.
Be well Floyd
