I tend not to buy coins on E-bay. I'm afraid I will end up with one of these Chinese fakes.

They go up...they go down...
Look at the time of the year.
End of June through the end of August is always a down time for ebay.
Vacations are winding down and schools are starting up.
Anything of any value that I want to sell, gets sold mid September until beginning of December.
Then again mid January until end of May (Christmas bucks and tax refund time)

I don't buy bullion coins or bars on ebay. Folks get crazy and you can do much better at your local BM, show or through a national outlet. I saw two bullion Morgans last night with 90 seconds to go and $3.25 bid. Factoring in the $4 shipping, I placed a bid of $21. They sold for $31 ($35) with shipping. I could get both at the local coin store for $12 each, no shipping. I've witnessed more absurd examples. Bet there's a lot of buyer remorse when they finally arrive.

As for the increase in prices, you might want to credit it to Coinworld-Coin prices magazine
There is a cover story called markets for Morgans.
It has been my experience that whenever there is an article in a magazine about a specific item, that Item goes haywire on ebay for a while. (other places too)
It kind of draws attention to something that was previously a sweet deal

Talking pricing of coins, I can not figure where everybody gets there asking price from.

Ok, ebay.

A 1921 morgan. One guy ask $12.00.
the next one will be $35.00
and the next will be $275.00

none are graded, all non mint. Go Figure.

Then we wonder why they don't sell!

Consider this...
If I have one item at 250.00 available all the time.
I then have similar items for shall we say considerably less.
Which one will sell. (I have seen sellers with three identical items priced very far apart from each other)
250.00 is nothing more than a fishing expedition in hopes that some nit wit bites
Ploys like this play on the ignorance of some people.
It works on many levels. Not just ebay
How many times have you heard at a yard sale or a flea market...It's going for X amount on ebay, or almost having the hammer drop at an auction. When the auctioneer exclaims they are getting this much on ebay. then BOOM the items sells for twice book value.
