Man I hate not being able to see the pictures at work. Did you mean to say 1880/79?

No SeatedNut, 1800/79 Draped Bust Large Cent. No pics at work! That sucks.

Maybe 1800/1799 is a more accurate way to acknowledge the dates (it appears only the middle 80/79 numbers are visible).
I think his images showing the 7/8 and 0/9 are really good, do look at them when you get home!

Yeah at work I see a little box with red x ... and have to guess or ignore on many posts. I can see the pics added directly to the site, but linked photos don't show. Of course most of my opportunities to participate are while at work (breaks while queries are hitting the server).

Not rare but a nice little piece. Late die state S-191. Another interesting tidbit, this is actually the 1800/798 obv with the type 1 hair used on S190, 191, NC-5 and NC-6. Do a magnified view of the last 0 you will see the traces of the 8 inside it. (I used the magnifier program in XP and the tracss of the 8 ARE visible.)
The 1800 lage cent was a great year for overdates There were six different over dated obverse dies (five 1800/79_ and one 1800/798)and they were used to strike eleven different varieties (four common, two scarce, one rare, two very rare, and two extremely rare.) Your coin shares the obverse with one of the very rare and one of the extremely rare varities.

Condor101, thanks for that. I know of the 1800/798 S-191 but had no idea this was the style 1 hair. I figured it was style 2. Thanks again!
