Hello, now that I finally found one CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THEIR IDEAS OF WHAT THIS WOULD GRADE?
What $$ is it worth?
The spots you see on the obverse are either grease spots or carbon spots.
Thanx!

This is tough one to photograde!

The reverse looks close to MS, but I think I see some rub on the portrait and steps. The luster looks to be very strong, which makes it flirt with MS. Without the spots I would say AU-55/58, but with AU-50. The obverse spotting is pretty distracting. In this condition I'd guesstimate the value at about $15-20.

On another note, you might want to try soaking the coin in some distilled water for a day or two. If that's ineffective, I'd try some acetone and then xylene soaking. You can't damage the coin and if the residue is soluble, it might be removed.

Thanks BadThad, I will try that. Do I let the coin soak in there for a day? For some reason I would have thought the coin would be worth more... but I guess that goes to show you I'm still a rookie at this coin collecting hobby.

Nice find! Is that from a mint set?
I've seen a lot of 70s LMCs from mint sets w/fingerprints.
BadThad gives good advice on coin chemistry--good luck!

Yes, let it soak for at least 24 hours in each. DO NOT ALLOW THE SOLVENTS (including water) TO EVAPORATE! Use a glass container and cover TIGHTLY.

The last 70-S small date I bought was $50 and it was MS-64 or so with no problems. I also bought one about a year ago that was MS-63 with a slight stain on the portrait for $25.

Yes!.. Bad Thad, does give good advise on coins, very knowledgeable on Lincolns.

There was a 1970S small date for sale in Canada that was pretty well the same as this one, that went for $30.00.

Nice coin.
