Heyo, been browsing for a few hours reading bits and pieces. Went through a bag of coins (I am not a coin collector) and sorted them out, and tried to get some rough values. I am guessing they are all worth about $1 each but if anyone has any other ideas please give me a shouteth.

All the coins are obviously worn, but only higher areas. The new pennies are more worn than the older ones (what did they do to the metal?) The cartwheel (I learnt a word!) is worn to impossible to identify status, I could only barely make out D.G. REX to Google and find out what it was. I would really like to know what the F.E.F stamped in to that coin means.

Here is a list of what was in the bag:

G'day & welcome,
I'm no expert but Australian bronze coins get high prices if one or more of the following circumstances exist:
exceptionally high grade;
low mintage that year;
some years have varieties, the least common variety will attract a premium;
&/or: a minting error is apparent.
Pennies & halfpennies that do not fall into the above categories will find buyers at $10 per kilo, sometimes more.

some advice: Don't attempt to clean the coins; but
if any coins have traces of green on them - we call it "coin cancer" - quarantine them from the others.

Are you looking at startiing a collection, or are you inclined to dispose of them ?

Not starting a collection or off-loading, these will just go back in to a bag for the next hundred years doing nothing. Mostly wanted to know what the F.E.F stamp was for, and if any of the coins had a chance of being worth any more than a dollar. The only coin collecting I do is of foreign coins that end up in my change at the supermarket. I have a few Fiji / New Zealand / Philippines from that.

The half pennies are all pretty much dollar coins if they are worn. The pennies may be worth more depending upon condition. Of most interest would be the 1919 and 1920, there are a few varieties of each. For worn coins, these may be worth from 75c to $50 for the 1919 and from a couple of dollars to $200+ for the 1920. These are the ones that would be good to see big, clear pictures of, as it is a matter of tiny dots and their locations in relation to the scrolls that will determine their value.
As for the FEF stamp, has it been stamped into the coin with a letter punch? If so, it is considered to be a damaged coin.

Yeah, the F.E.F was punched in with something. Does it mean the coin is damaged so they punched it, or the coin is damaged because they punched it?
