Went to the Chase Bank on the Crown Point (Indiana) square to get a box of pennies to satisfy my copper fix. The first box was a newer type with the holes in it. I could tell they were all new pennies, appeared to be the log splitter ones. Told the teller I wanted circulated pennies. She brought out 2 more boxes, same as the first, all rolls of splitter pennies. She tld me that all they had were new.
Went to a bank up the block and got a box of circulated. Second roll I noticed a "different" penny through the plastic. It was a 1990 S that looks like someone just popped it out of a proof set.

On another note, are other penny sorters seeing more pre 1982 S mint marks? It appears I am getting more S marks, maybe 2-4 per box.

Yes,I am seeing more s-mint wheat pennies also. There appears to be a significant increase in s-mint early 70's in the last 3-4 weeks. Doesn't make much sense unless the recession has just finally hit the west and everybody is dumping change jars!

Why don't you want the boxes of Log Splitter pennies? I wish we had those down here in Louisiana.

I'm just a copper hound looking for that 90% return on my copper investment, wheaties for strength, and an occasional defect. I just have no interest in Zincolns as I feel they are an inferior coin. I started hoarding pre 82's in 1982.

I'm sure you could sell the logsplitter rolls for a couple of bucks on the forum (once you have 50 quality posts). There is always an interest here for those!

Dood, you should have bought them all. If you look at the completed listings for those rail splitters it looks like you can double your money on ebay.

Hopefully...*crosses fingers*, by tomorrow afternoon...I'll be the happy owner of 9 rolls of 2009's. (my son works for a CVS store. He mentioned that the bank-rolls they receive are almost all 2009's.)

I gave him $5, and ask him to get me some! He found 9 new rolls. It's probably too much to ask that the 10th roll be filled with wheaties eh?

Here's a pic of what my son brought me...

I haven't opened the top 2 rolls yet. Both ends of the rolls show only the obverse side.

If you have not looked, log splitter boxes are around $100.00 on ebay.
