So I'm new to collecting and have been reading about fake NGC holders. This link helps explain them.
http://www.numisnews.tv/Counterfeit...-Holders.htm

I saw this ebay listing and the dash between the registry numbers is straight instead of slanted like it explains in the link above. Does this mean the holder is fake?

I think this marker would be a better marker for counterfeits than the line you are referring to
Fake shows gap in the seal above the label

So on the web site about the fake holders it says

"Dashes or hyphens on the counterfeit label are straight and square. Dashes on the authentic NGC holder have angled ends. A dash always appears as part of the NGC certification number. "

On this ebay listing it shows straight dashes. So I take it that some genuine holders do have straight dashes but its just one sign it COULD be a fake holder?

I am not 100% sure about the dashes on fake slab but the seals are usually what I look for, any breaks in the seal usually mean counterfeit in both PCGs and NGC and probably ANACS as well (but I haven't seen any of those to check)

The linked site oversimplifies things a bit. There have been about 50 iterations of NGC slabs, only newer ones have the slanted dash while some older versions have a straight dash. For a true comparison, check out all of the NGC slabs- http://www.sampleslabs.com/ngc.html

Awesome thanks Bryan, Biokemist. I spent a good time looking for a site like that before giving up and posting this thread!
