I was confused! My 1999 CLAM proof is in QC and not this coin. This one is going to be a couple more weeks. NGC is pretty slow through my dealer, but it's only $25.....you get what you pay for. LOL

Carbon spots are significant grade killers for red cents. Also, it sure looks like there are some faint hairlines in front of Lincoln's face. I can accept that the diagonal lines on the portrait are planchet striations, not hairlines. My guess: this cent should max out at MS-62 RD.
Rest in Peace

Just saw my dealer today....this is going to take 4-8 more weeks. Since NGC started holdering problem coins, they are WAY behind. He said the last batch took 12 weeks!

Nope, I'm still waiting. One of the pitfalls of using my dealer and of NGC slabbing everything. About a week or so after he submitted it NGC started with details grading. I'm hoping to have it and my 1998 CLAM back in Dec.

Wow, NGC really must be busy if it hasn't come back yet. Worth the wait though, especially if it comes back a high grade.

OH YEA! FINALLY!

Just talked to my dealer and this coin is returning to his shop. He said to call tomorrow afternoon. Now...the good news...

THIS COIN CAME BACK AS MS-65 RD!

Congrats on getting a nice grade. I guess I grade a little more conservatively than NGC! That's a good thing though. I'm really picky about what I buy.

Congrats, Thad, a great find. I was thinking 63. I am going cross eyed looking for one of these. I have a mountain of 2000 and 1998s.
