I was looking through my pocket change and found a dime with the face struck off center. The back looks fine but the front is very off center (easy to see without a magnifying glass). If anyone has some insight please help. I can post a picture later if their is some interest.

If the reverse is fine, but the obverse looks off center, than it is a MAD or misaligned die.

yes, I'd like to see a picture. I don't think they are worth much unless it's really badly misaligned.

I am just wondering if this is rare for coins to have this type of error?

I wouldn't call a misaligned die rare or even scarce. They really don't have much collector value unless the die misalignment is so severe that some devices on the obverse of the coin are missing. Still an interesting piece to keep imho. A true off center coin would show on the obverse and reverse of the coin.
