I'm still wondering what I'm looking at? The image is too close to see what it is doubled from?

This is a normal ear on a 44. Notice how straight the ear line is on your coin, I believe it is just a severe hit that separated the ear lobe slightly.

The die is very worn. The coin appears to be AU/BU, so it not coin wear. You can see the die flow lines in the ear and the ear appears to be almost non existent. Could you take an image of the ear area like MorgansRmine. Maybe we can see where the coin area matches and were there is added/damaged to see if it could be a DDO or damage. The size of the image doesn't matter as long as the top and lower edges are included. This way I can make an overlay to see if it falls in the area it should or added to the size of the ear lobe.

The images were from different die states. But it appears rockdude's earlobe is lower. But it could be Machine Doubling. Is is raised or flat under the ear? Hard to tell from images. The image looks almost like the details of the ear is missing. My eye want to make the ear flat and unlike the ear in Morgan's coin. So I'm still undecided at this point.

The area is raised next to the ear lobe.

I have several other 44's that have a straight ear like the one I've shown without the mark below it.

It's tough to give up on one that you think really shows some potential. How about some pictures of a few of these coins? Who knows, maybe you're on to something here.

I really don't see anything on those 2 cents other than normal die wear. As for the quarter, this again appears to be just another hit. Being one of the highest points on the coin makes them an easy target for the edge of another coin. Easiest way to tell for sure is to send it in to one of the experts.

The photo's of the lincoln's were to show the ear being straight in the area of the lobe and the quarter is listed as a doubled die.

I knew the quarter was a doubled die. The arrow gives that away. If that was on a cent, Charles would have to come along side my head 5 or 6 times to convince me, that's why I suggested you send it in.

You had me worried when you said " As for the quarter, this again appears to be just another hit". I was hoping that Charles would have an opinion on this one.
